Hi, I tried putting Reaper on a 16Gb Toshiba Flash Pen Drive (USB), I wanted to check out running Reaper on a portable USB. I don't know what the problem is now, I was guessing it was the Toshiba Flash stick driver somehow screwed up my computer. I get CPU Spikes now (100%), which effect any audio I try to play. I got a big blue screen telling me something was screwed up after I tried using the toshiba usb drive. Has anyone dealt with this kind of issue before? I am troubleshooting now, and I have tried various things. Ruled out malware, ruled out start up processes by disabling everything using msconfig. I seem to have had some luck by disabling and enabling various USB drivers. I have USB keyboard and mouse, because the PS/2 port is worn out and doesn't work. I got the spikes to go down to 50-80%, and less frequently, but the problem comes back. Any ideas?

If you have a restore point from before the problem try that. Also I have a USB flash stick and it needs no specific USB drivers so if yours got you to install some and some software un-install them. Also in the Device Mangler in the USB section find and disable the error reporting. It's bogus and not needed.See how you go :)

I think not all USB sticks are created equal, so you may try another. Some may be much more efficient / fast / good than others. You're making me want to try it now. I have a 64m, 256m, and a 4g i can play with. Maybe i'll look into this and see what I find.
