Brakes playing up - kinda urgent..

For some reason when I fire up the car (740 GLE 2.3 N/A) when you first step on the brakes its like there isn't enough fluid and it just hits the floor. Drive it up the street and the brakes seem to come back. Now its a bit weird cause it'll be fine for ages but for some reason when its at slow speeds the brakes don't seem as firm as they do at higher speeds. Just seems to come and go. Checked the fluid levels and they are fine, checked the lines to make sure there aren't any leaks or kinks in the pipes and they all seem fine. I've had a problem with brakes before but then you had to pump the pedal and the brakes worked, but on the Volvo that doesn't seem to work. You can pump it as much as you like and it won't come back on. Drive away and then press it and its some how come back? Its just all a bit spooky, I think someone may have topped up the fluid with ghosts :lol: HELP!?

Had a look at the inlet today and there was two pipes off it. The one in the middle of the inlet had a thick black pipe on it, looks like someone has cut it down before because it didn't quite reach properly. Had a big split up the side of it as well. My mate said he'll grab me a bit of flexi from work so I can replace it, so hopefully that will solve my troubles. Wonder if thats part of the reason it has a bit of an imitation V8 idle...? Never stalls, just idles a bit lumpy.

The problem with idle makes sence if there was some split in the hose.Air leak after MAF would make the ECU compute wrong air/fuel ratio.
