You have to register (as usual with such free offers) and can use the free Soundpaint sample engine. Another alternative is This is for the free Kontakt player. So yes, you'll have to register with Heavyocity and with Native instruments.

LABS have several worth listening to eg Soft Piano. Also Pianobook have a bunch (eg for the Decentsampler VSTi). They vary a bit in quality and some have a very characterful sound that may or may not suit your needs.
